It is not your job to know how to build a web site, that is my job. But your job is to know what you’re getting into. A web site has many variables and it is easy for a designer and almost effortless to get a site up and running, but it takes work and experience to get your site running better than the competition. Do you know how your site looks on other computers and other web browsers? Do you know how long it takes for your site to load on dial up? Are your prospective customers elderly, and should the typography be larger than normal sites? Even if your market has no competition, you want your target market to be happy with their experience on your site so that hopefully they come back, purchase a product or come to your store. Whatever your goal you want to be successful.
Here is a full list of services I provide:
Web Design – CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Flash
Site Development – HTML, PHP, XML, MySQL and more
Site Templates – Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, OSCommerce and many more. Need a blog, or storefront and don't want to pay the huge cost to have it built? This is the way to go.
Web Site Optimization – Image Optimization, Code Validation, and Code Compression wrapped under one title.
HTML and CSS Validation – Some designers use what are called “hacks”. These hacks are great for getting the site to look right, the problem is when you use junk to fix junk you get junk. Think of an old sun rotted water hose with a leak in it. You use duck tape to fix the leak, but that just causes another leak down the line. The hose should have just been replaced in the beginning. “Hacks” on a web site are the same. They create other problems that you can’t see up front but they are there and sooner or later that hack is going to botch up the rest of the site. HTML and CSS Validation ensure your sites code are following strict guidelines and comply with quality assurances.
Image optimization – Some images are better of as .gif, some better off in .jpg and some .png. The trick is to know which gets you the best resolution for the smallest file size and what settings in each will improve the overall experience.
Code Compression – Sometimes when you have a large site and are scrounging for every kilobyte possible, you may lean to code compression. Code compression takes all your code and takes out the redundancies and unnecessary white space to create clean code that your server can read effortlessly.
Cross Browser Compatibility – This is the method of molding a design to look identical on all browsers and all operating systems. Technology has come a long way in terms of web browsers. Gone are the days of IE 5.5 (thank god), and some of us can say Sayonara to IE6. But the sad truth of the matter is not all of us can. For instance, a technology magazine site can say goodbye to IE6 because most of their readers are tech savvy and said goodbye to IE6 long ago, but for a café in Sun City, chances are their customers are not as tech savvy and a higher percentage may still have IE6. So their site may need to have that in consideration when the site is designed.
